Solar Panel Built Into A Kindle Cover

My husband is a techno junkie, but thought our readers at Digital Book Today might be interested in this item. Solar Focus announced at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) a bookcover for theKindle that has a built in solar panel. When sitting in full sunlight, this panel will give the Kindle 90 minutes worth of charge. Excess energy is stored in a small battery which will even power a LED reading lamp which is included in the bookcover. It is currently shipping and sells for $79.99.

Of course we all know that the E Ink display on the Kindle uses very little power. This device actual delivers “infinite power” to the Kindle meaning it delivers at least as much power as they consume. Ultimately this would mean you would never have to plug your kindle into an outlet.

My husband has a sunlight charger for his iPhone, but at best it keeps the charge even. Imagine if somebody could figure out how to create a car that would have “infinite power”. That would be the holy grail of solar charging.
