About the Author: Rae Ellen Lee grew up on a stump ranch in northern Idaho. She worked for the U.S. State Dept. in Washington, D.C., Switzerland, and (what was then) Yugoslavia before attending the Univ. of Idaho, where she earned a degree in Landscape Architecture. Employment followed with the U.S. Forest Service in Idaho and Montana, where she lived in and renovated the former mining camp brothel she called The Bluebird House. She resigned her post with the Forest Service in August 1997 to move with her new husband to a sailboat at Bellingham, WA, followed by several years in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Her two rollicking, funny memoirs reflect those colorful years. She steadfastly denies that she has made “bad” choices just to have something to write about.
When not writing, Rae Ellen can be found hiking, sketching, and biting the wind with friends and her dog, Sudsie. She enjoys engaging readers by turning the truth on its ear and making fun of the ironies of life lived out on the skinny branches.
